SPECIAL EVENTS
Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner

The Club hosts a second grand dinner every year, the Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner (LTAD), to honor men and women who have distinguished themselves in the field of exploration. The award is named for Club member Lowell Thomas, the journalist whose news reports introduced "Lawrence of Arabia"—T.E. Lawrence—to the Western public.

LTAD 2007
The 2007 Annual Lowell Thomas Awards honors leading individuals who’ve made outstanding contributions to humanity through their original research “Exploring Climate Change”. Wednesday, October 18, 2007 at Cipriani Wall Street, New York, NY.

LTAD2005

James Fowler hosted the 2005 Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner, "Digging into the Past to Benefit the Future", held Saturday, October 22, at Sotheby's New York. Distinguished speakers included Larry Agenbroad, Barry Clifford, Michael Novacek, Rick Potts, and Patricia Sutherland.

LTAD 2004
James Fowler, actress Stefanie Powers, Dr. Edward O. Wilson, Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, Gary Comer, Dr. Bill Burnham, and other notables were on hand for the 2004 Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner. Titled "Champions of Conservation", the dinner was held at the Central Park Boat House in New York City.

LTAD 2003
Carrying the theme, "The Future of Exploration: A Global Challenge", the awards dinner honored six men and women who have been inspired by legendary explorers--in several instances, by their own parents or grandparents--and who now, in their own right, are shaping the future of exploration.

Previous Recipients of the Award
Each awards dinner carries a special theme. Since its inception in 1980, the award has been conferred on a select roster of outstanding explorers.

The Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Rolex Watch USA, Inc.
