The Antarctic scallop (Adamussium colbecki), identified by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research as a key indicator of environmental variability, was used for assessing sub-lethal station impacts in the Antarctic coastal zone. .... The purpose of this international collaboration was to generate biological baselines from the Antarctic coastal zone with marine indicator species (common circumpolar species with abundant populations that are easy to collect and experimentally manipulate.
